This is it - the first ever egg we've got from our chickens, and which they laid sometime at the end of January. In the meantime, they are laying between them two one and sometimes two eggs per day. We haven't quite established yet, who lays which eggs, but there are some smaller ones more frequently (almost one every day), and there are some bigger ones, but only once every second day. Following my detective ambitions, I suspect that one of them lays the bigger eggs, and the other one the smaller eggs. But it doesn't matter, the fact alone is rewarding, and fresh eggs from your own free range hens are so tasty, and the egg yoke is so beautifully deep yellow, that it definitely is worthwhile having them. The new chicken run, once completed, will hopefully make them even happier, so we can rake in more rewards.
